The latest statistics released by the Latin American Iron and Steel Institute, this year Latin American countries imports steel from China reached 3.22 million tons from Jan to April, an increase of 29% over the same period last year, the total volume last year was 2.51 million tons.

From the importing country, Brazil imported steel from China are still rank in first place, reached 0.584 million tons, accounting for 18%; the Central American countries imported steel of 504,000 tons, accounting for 16%; Mexico imported 434,000 tons , accounting for 13%. In addition, Latin American imports of Chinese steel year's fastest-growing countries are Cuba, Argentina, Dominica and Mexico, respectively, an increase of 600%, 453%, 167% and 104%.

From variety of steel, from Jan to April, the total volume of flat steel from China to Latin American countries accounted for 62% of total imports steel from China, about 200 million tons. Among them, the HRC imports volume is 0.431 million tons, cold rolled coil imports volume was 309,000 tons. Long steel products imports volume was 1.1 million tons, mainly are rebarl and wire rod, the voluem were 449,000 tons and 439,000 tons separatly.
