Although main steel mills of Korea have already increased the rebar production due to the construction industry strong demand, now rebar inventories remain low.

As of the end of July, including Hyundai Steel, Dongkuk Steel, South Korea’s seven main steel mills’ rebar inventories are 170-180 thousand, essentially flat with the previous month.

       As the summer holidays approaching, the sales of rebar in South Korea slow, but due to the demand of construction industry improved, the overall market turnover better than last year. Market estimates that in July South Korea’s seven major steel mills’ rebar sales reached 890,000 tons, a decline of about 40,000 tons month on month, but an increase of 130,000 tons year on year.
