In August, total imports of steel in Korea increased by 13.8% to 1.988 million tons, of which imports from Asian countries increased by 15% to 1.925 million tons.

Although the amount of steel imports from Japan declined, the sharp increase in steel from China and Southeast Asia. In August, South Korean steel imports from China increase by 26.7% over last year to 1.292 million tons.
