International Iron and Steel Association (worldsteel) statistics show that 64 major steel-producing countries and regions output crude steel 130 million tons in August 2013, an increase of 5.2 percent, the growth rate just lower than February's 5.5%,and became the second highest level in 2013 year.
Crude steel production in the EU 27 countries was 12.03 million tons in August, an increase of 1.3% compared with August 2012 and decreased by 5.6% compared with 2011; CIS crude steel production was 9.06 million tons which down 2% compared with August 2012, compared with 2011 decreased by 4.2%; North American crude steel production was 9.94 million tons, down 3.8%,compared with 2011 decreased by 1.9%; South American crude steel production was 4,070,000 tons, an increase of 6.6% compared with 2011 decreased by 1.7%; Asian crude steel production was 88.86 million tons,an increase of 8.5%, compared with 2011 increase of 8.1%.
