Application of stainless steel in chemical industry equipment

The most widely used in chemical equipment are Cr-Ni and Cr-Ni-Mo austenitic stainless steels with good corrosion resistance, plasticity, toughness, formability and weldability. In order to meet the requirements of intergranular corrosion resistance under hot working and welding conditions, chemical equipment often uses stainless steel grades containing stabilizing elements such as titanium and niobium, such as 07Cr19Ni11Ti (321H), 06Cr17Ni12Mo3Ti (316L), etc. With the improvement of metallurgical technology, the application of low-carbon, ultra-low-carbon, and nitrogen-containing stainless steels with better resistance to intergranular corrosion and knife-like corrosion is becoming increasingly widespread.
Stainless steel has a high content of alloy elements and is expensive, so it must be used sparingly. When the pressure of the chemical container is high and the wall thickness is thick, it is generally used in the structure of carbon steel or low alloy high strength steel shell lining stainless steel. This not only saves a lot of stainless steel, but also ensures the quality and efficiency of the equipment.
