303 stainless steel performance and application

303 (Y12Cr18Ni9) stainless steel is austenitic free-cutting stainless steel, which increases the sulfur and phosphorus content in the steel, thereby improving the cutting performance of 12Cr18Ni9 steel. In order to improve the properties of steel, no more than 0.6% molybdenum can be added to the steel. For parts requiring excellent cutting performance and a good processing surface, this type of stainless steel should be used. The steel is resistant to ablation.
1. Hot workability. Due to the high content of sulfur and phosphorus in the steel, the hot workability of the steel is adversely affected.
2. Cold workability. The cold workability of steel is not as good as 12Cr18Ni9. Cold forming is generally not recommended.
3. Mechanical processing performance. This kind of steel is easy to machine, its cutting performance is better than 12Cr18Ni9, easy to cut and the surface is smooth.
303 stainless steel is most suitable for corrosion resistance standard processing on automatic lathes and the production of rollers, shafts, bolts, nuts, etc.
