British worry about high alloy content of
steel from
British Steel Association recently issued
a safety warning that steel plate and profile steel imported from
British Steel Association noted that the
boron content of these steel plates is greater than 0.0008%.or chromium content
greater than 0.3% or copper content greater than 0.55%, which all not in line
with European standards. Long before the end of last year, the British Steel
Corporation, pointed out that the steel adding more boron can lead to cracking
when welding, which causing great concern of Eurofer, the British government
also said it would strengthen the import inspection review. British Steel said
boron content may damage steel performance, the welding heat affected zone
(HAZ) cracking Similarly, chromium content of more than 0.3% had a similar
situation, greatly increasing the genarate of crack HAZ, copper content exceeding
0.4% may also cause weld fracture. British Steel Association recommends users carefully
checked alloy content importing from
