Iran raised the import duty on steel products, all flat products (2mm thick hot rolled coil excluded) rising to 15%, steel billet rising to 10%, long steel products rising to 20%, the measure take effect from February 28, 2015.

Fearing increasing import steel would impact on the domestic market, Iran steel mill appealed to raise steel import duty to 30%, but the government finally decided to rise the import duty up to 20% from previous 4% to 11%.

Iran's steel products mainly imported from China and Russia,the local steel mill said the cheap import steel would impact on the domestic steel market.
