This week, the United States sheet prices continue to drop, ex-factory base price of hot rolled coils of Midwest steel mill is USD 445-460 / short ton, cold rolled coils ex-factory base price is USD570-590 / short ton. The cumulative decline of sheet in US from beginning of April has reached USD 10-15 / short ton which basically are the lowest point since June 2009.

Market participants believe that the current price is still close to the bottom, steel profits thin, may begin to try to raise prices. However, if market conditions improve, to expansion of profit and increase productivity, the mill won’t increase the price too much.
