316 stainless steel performance and use
Source:Xinsteel   Date:2020/7/31

316 stainless steel (06Cr17Ni12Mo2) is a typical and commonly used austenitic stainless steel. In dilute reducing media such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and acetic

acid, formic acid, sea water and other media, the corrosion resistance is better than that of 304 stainless steel without molybdenum .

316 stainless steel is generally used as a pitting-resistant material.

1. 316 stainless steel has good cold and hot processing properties, good thermoplasticity, low overheating sensitivity, and the suitable hot processing temperature is

900-1200 degrees Celsius. Due to the high content of molybdenum in steel, its deformation resistance is significantly higher than that of 304 and 304L stainless steel.

2. The steel has good cold working performance, and it can be cold-rolled, cold-drawn, deep-drawn, bent, crimped, folded, and other cold-worked and cold-formed.
3. 316 stainless steel has good welding performance, and general welding methods can be used for welding.

316 stainless steel is mainly used to manufacture structural parts and components resistant to dilute reducing media and pitting corrosion.
